Ma pole kaua tikkinud. Viimati tikkisin põlle ja enne seda jäävad mu sellealased katsetused eel-teismelise ikka, kui ristpistes linikuid ja töid kukkus nõelalt mitmeid.

I haven't embroidered for a long time. The last work of the sort was the hip-apron back in 2008 and before that I'd have to go back years into preadolescence when I used to whip up cross-stitch items of all sorts.

Singapuris leidsin ühe armsa linnulõike ja võtsin tikkimise taas käsile. Aga, nagu ikka, kui on tegu selliste komplektidega, siis jääb puudu tikkimisniidist. Kontrollisin kogu mustrijuhise üle, et ega ma pole valesti aru saanud, aga ei. Puudu jääb helesinisest värvist ligi veerand.

While vacationing in Singapore, I came across a bird design that was soooo cute that I decided to have a go at stitching with a needle. It was very nice until I noticed that the kit contains less light-blue thread than necessary for completion. It was clear that there was at least a quarter amount less than needed.

Kus häda kõige suurem, seal abi kõige lähem. Mõtelsin, et kuna ta nagunii mustrikohane ei tule, sest ma ei viitsi tikkimisniite juurde minna ostma ja tea, aks neid samu värve siit saabki, siis teen omaloomingut ja harjutan erinevaid pisteid ka. Nii ta siis praegu töö käigus kujuneb.

This put me back a little. While trying to come up with a solution, and going shopping isn't one in my mind since I have no idea where I could find DMC threads in Abu Dhabi, I thought why not have a go with other stitches and practice a little. So I started stitching the wings differently and am liking the result so much that I am considering of expanding my stitch practice to other areas as well.

Sinine pakike saarelt / Blue package from an Island

Pakike ootas mu saabumist kodus juba tükk aega ja lõpuks ometi ma jõudsin.

No nii tore pakike! Sinistes toonides nagu mu meri ja mu taevas ja kohvi-, kaneeli- ning šokolaadilõhnaline (väga mõnus seep!). Kuna see üllatus mind nii kaua ootas, siis lõhnab ka lõng ja sinisekirju heie sees samahästi! Lisaks oli pakis veel "pross" raamatule (väga šeff idee! mul prossikandmisvõimalusi palju pole, aga juba on ta mu kalendermärkmiku vahel ja kui koju jõuan, siis läheb lemmiklugemise sisse järge pidama) ja veel üks vildist Itaalia-kujuga järjehoidja (Kust teadsid, et ma alati mitut raamatut korraga loen? ;) ), kaks juukseklambrit, mis pildilt puuduvad, sest läksid juba vanema tütre juustesse korda looma ning armas kiisudega kaart.

I was contacted a few months back by a fellow knitter in Estonia, Heidi. She proposed a private swap among some chosen knitters-bloggers. I really hadn't been knitting at all in previous months, neither did I have internet access, so this sort of knitterly action was very very welcome.
The swap's theme was to include a brooch of some sort and keep it in a color scheme. I found it very hard to add some crafty things to my package since I been living in a very uncrafty county - Puglia in Italy, but I got it done and this is how it turned out.

I on the other had to wait longer than other participants for my package, since it arrived at my parents' house. But as soon as I had landed and arrived home I got to open it. Instead of a brooch for me (I am so unbroochy person) I got a perfect "brooch" for my books! I had such a giddly feeling when I opened the package and I must say that it perfectly describes my stay in Ostuni this year, and the yarn is a great incentive for some smaller knitting, that I really ought to squeeze in!

Private Swap

First of all, I'd like to mention a little private swap I had with Elisabetta in Hamburg (link leads to profile in Ravelry), we agreed that I'd send her some ultrathin dpns and Eesti Kindakirjad and Aino Praakli booklets and she promised to send a surprise in exchange. I ended up putting in her package 1,25-1,5-1,75 mm dpns and promised books-booklets as well as one skein of Kauni Green-Yellow, and she sent me new colorline from Wollmeise (100% superwash sock yarn) and a skein of Tausendschön Handgefärbte Sockenwolle in amazing colors. Thank you so much, Betta!

Hat attack

Hat attack was fun, but a big waste of money on postage costs. I won't participate again, even though I enjoyed it quite a lot - at least enough to stay up until 2 am in the morning to finish the hat.

Estonian color swap

We swapped colors with a bunch of knitting women in Estonia. I was requested for lime green and more or less lime green it came. But it was oh so hard not to buy all lime green items I saw around. And I went over them limit they set, but the prices are different, I guess. Hell who cares about money if swapping is fun. I will recieve my package when I go to estonia in a few weeks time.

I finally recieved my own package as well, I got if from Vardakeerutaja and I think she did a great job choosing the items for they are exactly my tase.
